The late Jim Pomeroy was a tall lanky rider from Washington. I remember he seemed to always be the fastest down this particular hill. He was using almost all of his suspension in the transition at the bottom.

The Honda XR75 was the hot pit bike to have back then. Today it would be impossible for a factory rider to be seen riding any other brand than their own. Here Pomeroy is checking out his brother Ron near the start of the 250 support class.

Texan Kent Howerton was an up and coming rider on a Swedish Husqvarna. He would go on to have great success with Suzuki a few years later.
